TNA 1.0 Rating - 9th March 2010
Just as HTM predicted the TNA rating is down and was demolished by WWE. They couldn't even hold their own audience.
TNA drew a 1.0 down from Thursday's 1.14 continuing the weekly ratings decline in the Bischoff and Hogan era.
As for Bubba telling people "Bubba = Ratings" his segment quarter hr was rock bottom! Ouch!
For Bischoff saying HTM can't draw. HTM's segment on RAW last year garnered a 3.7 rating.
TNA is dead in the water. Giving TNA 12 months was probably 6 months too many.
WWE headlines with Wrestlemania rematches next week and the return of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.
Add to that the McMahon, Bret Hart contract signing, TNA's taped show of Hardy vs Styles can't compete.
So much for the "war".
Shake, Rattle & Roll that Bischoff!

HTM will be posting a huge news story in the coming days. All we can say at this point it is a deal with WWE and Mattel.
We said we were working on a deal with Jakks and TNA but TNA never followed up during the Mr. Clem ( Bubba) nonsense.
Looks like TNA lost again and WWE will win once again!
TNA continues to drop the ball with OLD WCW talent. TNA will be dead in 12 months. Hogan will raid them for big dough and they will be dust in the wind. WWE will buy the tapes for 10 cents on the dollar.

South Town Star: An Interview With The Honky Tonk Man - 8th August 2009
Jessi Virtusio of the South Town Star recently sat down and conducted this great interview with the pro wrestling legend that is "The Honky Tonk Man".
What a whirlwind weekend for pro wrestling! Several stars from the legends circuit as well as the current mainstream and independent scene will drop by Wizard World's Chicago Comic-Con from Thursday (8/06) to Sunday (8/09) at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, 5555 N. River Road, Rosemont, (847) 692-2220. Among those stars is the Honky Tonk Man, a World Wrestling Entertainment legend who also is scheduled to appear at Gallagher's Pub, 160 E. North St., Manhattan, (815) 478-9803, on Thursday (8/06).
After checking out the man who was WWE's intercontinental champion for a record-setting 64 weeks at a July Dreamwave Wrestling event in LaSalle, Ill., it was a pleasure to get a chance to chat via phone with the Honky Tonk Man, who still loves the wrestling business. Some of my conversation will be in my pro wrestling column in Thursday's (8/06) Fifty-Two Weekends. To tide you over until that article is released, here are the Honky Tonk Man's thoughts on being picked to induct Koko B. Ware into the WWE Hall of Fame, what key elements will make a person successful in any business, and much more. So grab some grub and/or something to drink, and take in "A conversation with the Honky Tonk Man."
The Elvis Presley Connection
Since he was born as Roy Wayne Farris in Memphis, Tenn., it may surprise some to find out that adopting an Elvis Presley gimmick wasn't the Honky Tonk Man's first choice when it came to making his mark in wrestling. And it may shock some to find out that the Honky Tonk Man actually has been dyeing his hair black for years to keep the jumpsuit-and-guitar getup going.
"I was never an Elvis fan growing up. I grew up in Memphis so we were force-fed (Elvis). You guys in Chicago get force-fed the Cubs all the time. I was a Beatles and Rolling Stones fan," the Honky Ton Man said from his home in Gilbert, Ariz., where he said the temps were reaching 112 degrees that day. "I was dressed and had my hair all different colors. I was called punk rock. These wrestling fans in Birmingham, Ala., (saw) I had the sideburns, and they mentioned to me about doing this Elvis thing. I got sick of watching 'Blue Hawaii' as a kid and 'Viva Las Vegas.' They bought me a jumpsuit for my birthday present, and it took off from there. And the name came from an old Johnny Horton song."
As time went on and the Honky Tonk Man made his home in Arizona, he became an Elvis fan.
"Then it got to be part of my character. It got to be part of my persona. Of course I couldn't play guitar. I've been accused of playing a brutal tune. I finally learned four chords, but I could never progress. Musicians hate what I do because I break up instruments," the Honky Tonk Man said of using his guitars to smash his opponents in the ring. "Could you imagine if I played piano?" he quipped of what his finishing move might then have to be.
Wizard World
Speaking of legends, the Honky Tonk Man said calling him a legend could be misleading because the term makes him sound as if he is retired.
"When I do seminars for the young fellows, (I tell them) there are really only three key elements that will make you successful in any business. You have to have desire. You have to be dedicated. And you have to work hard," he said. "I did all those things, and I still do them and it's paid off for me. I've never been one to say, 'I'm quitting. I'm done.' I just feel like, if you get a lemon, let's make lemonade. I don't look at myself as a legend. Some of the fans do. ... It just makes you feel like you're retired, but I'm not. I'm very active. I do over 100 wrestling shows a year and go all over the world. Now I've started doing these conventions. I did Wizard World Chicago last year, did Philadelphia this year and just came from San Diego Comic-Con, which was a madhouse."
Calling the 2008 Chicago Comic-Con "a great event," the Honky Tonk Man had nothing but compliments for the Wizard World crew.
"Wizard does a wonderful job. They've taken over a couple of other conventions. They are actually going to do England in a year or two. Big Apple Con, they've taken it and bought it out. They're really expanding," he said. I was totally amazed that that many people would come out to a comic convention. I was never that big into comics. I would get a Superman comic now and then."
Although a number of wrestling fans also tend to love comics, there is an alternate event featuring the Honky Tonk Man if one wants to skip the crowds at Chicago Comic-Con (which also will feature comic and toy creators in addition to television and movie stars). And the Honky Tonk Man said he is looking forward to kicking back and meeting and greeting the fans on Thursday (8/06) at local Irish pub Gallagher's.
Visiting The Southland
"I'll have a few cold beers. When you're in the Chicagoland area, you have to have a few cold ones," he said of the appearance that was arranged in part by his friends Brian Koltz, of Joliet, and Frank Reznik, of Posen, who assist in coordinating Honky Tonk Man events within 100 miles of the region.
He said he doesn't throw around the term "friend" lightly, but former World Wrestling Federation superstar Bushwhacker Luke is among that group. In May, the two friends won the Ultimate Championship Wrestling tag-team belts in Nova Scotia, Canada, and lately the Honky Tonk Man has been trying to book more appearances that include Luke.
"We've been friends for 30 years," the Honky Tonk Man said of Luke. "We work well together."
The WWE Hall of Fame
Another friend is Koko B. Ware, whom the Honky Tonk Man inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in April. The two trained each other, he added.
"I was honored and flattered to be able to do that. When (the WWE) called me and asked me, I said, 'Of course I will.' I thought them being such a big office and so smart that they would have known that Koko and I broke in together. I didn't have to have cue cards. If you noticed (my induction speech), it was a truthful thing that came from years of knowing him and how we started."
As for who the Honky Tonk Man would like to see induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame if the opportunity came up, he said his pick might be controversial especially in the Chi-town area.
"I would really like to have the Milwaukee Brewers sports announcer Bob Uecker do it for me because he's been in so many 'WrestleManias.' " Bob and I have this running thing. He sent me a photo not long ago. I just missed him at spring training. I was at the last game and threw out the ball. He left me an autographed picture saying, 'See you in the Hall of Fame, ha ha.' Our thing is I'm not going in until Uecker goes in."
The Ongoing Love Of Wrestling
When it comes to the Honky Tonk Man and wrestling, it looks like it will continue to be a big part of his life for a long time to come.
"I can tell you that I've lived on the road for 34 years. If I stay home on a Friday or Saturday night, I go stir crazy because I know there's a wrestling show somewhere that I need to be on. It's just been my life. I never really had another job. I taught school for a while before I got into the wrestling business," he said. "I taught elementary physical education at a private Catholic school. I still went out and wrestled on the weekends."
But that doesn't mean that the Honky Tonk Man's family isn't important to him. He has been married for 26 years to Tammy Farris, a food-service manager at one of the junior high schools in Gilbert. His son, Roy, is turning 25 this month, and his daughter, Megan, is "16 going on 25."
In fact, it was the Honky Tonk Man's family who contributed to him leaving his Memphis home and making a new home in Arizona, where he's lived for nearly 20 years.
"My son was really into baseball and outdoor events/sports when he was just a small boy. And the weather in Memphis, in the springtime it rains. In the summertime, it rains. In the wintertime, there's no snow but it's icy. My wife is from Calgary, Canada. For a Canadian to say it's too cold to live (in Memphis), it's really something. It was either too steamy hot or 90 percent humidity. And in the wintertime, it's that wet cold like you get off the lakes in Chicago, and it goes right through you. They didn't like it," he said.
"I was fortunate enough to travel to so many places that I found the cities that I would like to live, and I definitely saw the ones I didn't want to live in. Nothing against Chicago or Detriot, but we chose either San Diego -- which is another gorgeous, beautiful city -- or Phoenix. With the weather in San Diego, even this time of year, you have to have a jacket on. The ocean water is cold there until now. I picked Phoenix. I didn't know it got up to 120 out here."
Living His Dream
When it comes to turning up the heat on a young wrestler's career, the Honky Tonk Man returned to those three key elements he mentioned earlier.
"Desire, you have to have it. You have to be dedicated, and you have to be willing to work hard. If you're not willing to do those things, you're not going to be successful. You're never going to make it. Nothing happens overnight. You don't just one day wake up and be the world champion. It's a long, grueling process. I was almost 14 years in the business before you guys in Chicago ever saw me or ever saw the Honky Tonk character. It was a long-term investment," he said.
"I set a goal. My goal was, if I get into this business, I wanted to go to New York. I wanted to wrestling in Madison Square Garden. I've really lived out a dream. I always knew I was going to be in entertainment or pro sports. I told one of my teachers when I was in grade four. I said I wanted to be in pro sports and entertainment. Being in professional wrestling gave me both of those things. I never said I wanted to be a movie star. I've never pursued acting. I never pursued a job in radio or television. I have all of that by being in the wrestling business. I get to perform on a different stage every Friday or Saturday night somewhere in the world."

Honky Tonk Man Headed To Wizard World! - 8th August 2009
Wizard World's Chicago Comic-Con will take place in Rosemont from today to Sunday.
There is so much wrestling talent set to appear at the convention - which also includes comic and toy creators and television and movie stars - that one could joke that the event should be renamed.
And that is precisely what World Wrestling Entertainment legend the Honky Tonk Man said during a recent phone chat about his upcoming Chicago-area appearances.
"It looks like this year the wrestlers have taken over Comic-Con. They should change it to Wrestling-Con," he said from his Gilbert, Ariz., home.
"At one time there might be one wrestler at one of these things. WWE doesn't really book their guys on them. We have done conventions in the past, and they would book us on certain autograph signings.
"The conventions have really exploded. It's grown to huge events."
The Memphis, Tenn.-born Honky Tonk Man credited shows such as "TMZ" as helping to spark the frenzy.
"It's grown into a phenomenon that people are just obsessed, wanting to be around and near celebrities," he said.
For those who want to spend time with the Honky Tonk Man, they are in luck.
Not only will he be at Wizard World throughout the weekend, but he'll also do a meet-and-greet with fans tonight at Gallagher's Pub in Manhattan.
And Bushwhacker Luke, the Honky Tonk Man's friend and fellow World Wrestling Federation legend, also will be on hand to sign autographs and take photos for a fee at Gallagher's.
"It will be a smaller setting. It will be more personable," the Honky Tonk Man said.
For those who bristle at autographs and photos for a fee, the superstar said it's necessary due to the prevalence of online resale sites.
"Years ago, we didn't charge for autographs, but eBay changed that," the Honky Tonk Man said.
The Southland signing was arranged in part by Bryan Koltz, of Joliet, and Frank Reznik, of Posen, who are longtime wrestling fans who became friends with the Honky Tonk Man.
"Frank and I travel to many shows within 100 miles of here, and often advise Honky Tonk Man where he should work," Koltz said.
The Honky Tonk Man said he is amazed at how things have changed since he started in wrestling.
"I've seen this thing grow to Super Bowl status," he said of "WrestleMania," which is considered WWE's biggest show of the year.
"It's turned into a four-day event as opposed to a one-day event. Our business has been taken from small bingo halls and dirt-floor arenas and rodeo grounds to we've now been put on national television in these huge arenas and huge stadiums.
"The whole business has changed that much in the 30 years I've been in it."
When the Honky Tonk Man appears on the independent circuit these days, he is often a face (good guy) as opposed to the heel (bad guy) persona he was for much of his WWF/E career.
"Now the fans love me," he said.
"I like what I do now. I like when I'm entertaining and being nice, and not having to be snarly and angry and not shake hands with people and try to make people mad at me."
The Honky Tonk Man also gained a new generation of fans thanks to a 2008 program that saw WWE superstar Santino Marella claiming he could beat the Honky Tonk Man's 64-week reign as intercontinental champion.
"I thought it was a really great piece of television entertainment," the Honky Tonk Man said.
"He's done a wonderful job, period, on all the characters that they have thrown at him. I just wish (our program) had gone longer."
Still, just the small exposure of Honky Tonk Man in the ring with Marella translated to new fans.
"It helped me as far as my popularity again with the young crowd," the Honky Tonk Man said.
"I had been away for 10 years or so, so kids who are 10, 12 to 14 years old didn't know me before Santino Marella.
"It created a whole new audience for me. Their moms and dads knew me and grandmas and grandpas knew me. But the kids were like, 'I don't know him, Dad,' but now they do.
"I'm forever grateful for the company to give me at least that one more opportunity."

Update From The Honky Tonk Man - (11/04/09)
Hi guys,
Sorry to all the fans at the Mania Hyatt Hotel who could not get into the private autograph signing. We were closed down by the Houston Police for not having a vendors license!!!! A**Holes.
For those asking, the reason HTM has grown his hair long is something I have committed to for the last four years. It is called "Locks of Love." The hair is used for wigs to benefit children of cancer.
I let my hair grow for two years, cut it when it was 14 inches long and donated it to these children. Last May I started growing it again and by next May I will have the 14 inches of hair they need.
Honky Tonk Man is very committed to this cause and will be for the rest of my life! I would like for anyone who wants to join in this wonderful cause to not hesitate to get involved. Why waste your hair on the cutting room floor when it could change some little child's life....

Message From The Honky Tonk Man - (08/04/09)
To all my fans,
I had a great time at the WrestleMania & HOF weekend events. I was humbled to be with such greats of wrestling history and to be part of history. I was honoured and very excited to induct Koko into the Hall of Fame and I hope you all enjoyed it. I made sure to take my time so the words I spoke were absorbed by the fans and to make sure the induction was for Koko and not about HTM.
I'd also like to say thank you to every Diva, wrestler, Legend, Hall of Famer and office personnel who showed me nothing but the up most respect.
Speak to you all again soon,
Shake Rattle & Roll!

Message From The Honky Tonk Man Regarding Ric Flair/Hall Of Fame - (26/03/2009)
The Honky Tonk Man would like to issue the following statement in regards to the WWE Hall of Fame and Honky Tonk's anger towards Ric Flair.
" To all my fans. I will not disturb the Hall of Fame or Wrestlemania 25 in any way. I have nothing but the the up most respect for the WWE and these two great events and would never do anything other than be humbled by being part of the big weekend. I look forward to seeing you all! Honky"

Honky Tonk Man To Whip Ric Flair's A** - (25/03/09)
From the Honky Tonk Man "For the things he said about me in his book, I will finally get a chance to confront him in Conn. this coming Friday night. If he dodges me, I will confront him on Sunday night in Mass. If he dodges me again, I will confront him at HOF, and if he skates on me there I will catch him at Mania. I want to know why he says I would be nothing without a Hogan rub when I spent 12 years working main events before I went to WWE with out a Hogan rub and Flair knows that."
This is in response to what the Nature Boy wrote in his book "To Be A Man" (Page 135) "Other guys were just lucky to be working for the company. With Hogan headlining the show, anybody wrestling on the card shared his glory. Where would the Honky Tonk Man have been if he hadn't been employed by Vince McMahon?"
